Welcome to the page for our fastest wheel in the 2019 Aero series. Like all the wheels in our Aero range, it is based on our highly successful FL range. The Aero 86 takes the winning aero formula from the FL86 and makes it lighter, around 100g lighter for a wheelset.
Our 86mm deep rim was constructed using Toray T700 carbon fiber for the FL version and to help reduce weight we have used a mix of Toray T700 and T800 carbon fiber cloth for this wheelset. You still get the same strength, stiffness, and aero qualities but now with being super lightweight added.
Like the FL rims, our Aero rims are all tubeless ready. You can now perfectly mix comfort and speed. While these wheels are fast, we also want you to be able to slow down safely. Our engineers have then taken the FL braking track and enhanced its tolerance to heat. Our new Aero rims can withstand 300° of heat while our old FL wheels will tolerate up to 240°.
The story does not end here though. Our engineers have taken our lightweight R01 hubset and put it on a diet. They have machined out excess weight and even removed two spokes from the front hub. Taking the front hub down to 18 spokes and we have left the rear with 24 spokes to maximize your power transfer. Our sealed bearings still perform the same. They are now just lighter.
We looked at spokes and went with Sapim CX-Ray spokes. We run them on our FL series of wheels, and we have still to find another set of spokes that supersedes them. They are the benchmark for lightweight and stiff spokes.
We love this wheelset and as such provide it with a two-year guarantee.
Features
Wide Rim Tech
25mm rim wide creates a better, more stable support, while the shape of the tire and rim together creates regular, stable air flow, in short, more aerodynamics, less attrition. provides an ideal basis for 25/28mm tires, the sizes currently popular.
2-Way Clincher Tubeless. Tubes or No-Tubes
Use either traditional tires with tubes, or tubeless tires without tubes. Tubeless tires can provide lower rolling resistance and better protection from punctures.
Sapim CX-RAY As light as a titanium spoke
The CX-Ray still receives the best results in fatigue testing of any spoke. The CX-Ray aero spoke combines excellent aerodynamics with low weight and great strength. Not only are they more aerodynamic, they also make wheels lighter and stronger. Its unique strength and flexibility make the CX-Ray suitable for most bicycle disciplines. CX-Ray spokes are used by top bike racers and triathletes around the world.
UCI Approved
This wheelset has been certified and approved by the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale), for use in UCI sanctioned road races.
